I've finally finished, I've done my own appropriation. I did a online news article, incorporated a diary entry into it, and some twitter posts, and a story. It was fun to do to be honest. It may not be the best piece of literature, or any literature at all actually. But it was fun making it, and I was able to retell a similar story to that of hamlet, except, it is completely modernized, and almost everything happened virtually, lol, even the murdering was a result of an electrical problem. This was a pretty fun assignment to do :)
I have finished my analysis on both texts, and I ave to admit i may have rush it towards the end. I didn't really have much resources surrounding a 6 minute segment in a Simpsons episode, so I had to use a variety or sources to gather some knowledge and elaborate on my own. It was quite difficult, but i managed to complete it. Now i just have to begin my own appropriation. I have an idea on what to do, I am going to do a news report, about someone overthrowing a company and then basically the same treachery, then revenge, typical. Not sure exactly what its going to be though.
So I'm almost finished. I just have to do my appropriation. I have to admit the narrative element and the contexts for my Simpsons text was quite hard to do. Because All the information I received was the same and I felt like it was getting too repetitive. Also, there isn't much content online so I have limited resources.
I don't know if I have some sort of OCD, but I've been changing templates for the past hour, weebly is cancerous. I can't even change my background.
Oh, and I've decided to change my appropriation, it's no longer the lion king, I'm going to do the Simpsons version of Hamlet. I'm changing because there isn't much content about lion king since little people recognize and find it significant that it is a hamlet appropriation. Ok, so I may have underestimated this assessment. At the beginning i felt like it was a simple task, but now, everything has changed. I mean, it's not difficult, it really is quite simple, but these website editors are really annoying me. I keep alternating between wix and weebly. Wix is just so complicated, and I don't have enough time and nor will to go through that massive learning curve, so I'm stuck with weebly. But weebly is just so restricting, I can't move my text to the sides of the screen, there's like this box and only in there can I add things. Some pages don't allow me to change backgrounds, but I'm going to keep going and put up with this, although this high restriction is going to make the website look less professional. I'm giving up for the night, maybe the week, I'll be continuing later and hopefully it will all be well.
Edit: This wasn't worth making a new post over so I'm just saying this here, but just before i went off for the night I went back to the home screen, and changed the theme. I've changed my theme like 4 times now only on weebly, the themes just don';t seem right... So I really wanted to do a tragedy, because I'm not sure how i would do a comedic appropriation, yeah I know I'm thinking ahead but its better that way. So I really wanted to do hamlet, but I had never seen any appropriation of it and they all looked boring, so i had almost lost hope, before i realized that the lion king was based off hamlet. Yay! I'm happy that I've found it, but it feels weird that one of my best childhood films was based off Shakespeare :/, I'm scarred for life now :(.
I managed to set up everything yesterday, and I went to bed wondering about what I was going to do. I'm still not sure at the moment, I know I want to do a Shakespearean text, I would have done Macbeth but I'm sure thats the first choice for anyone doing something written by Shakespeare. So I'm trying to decide between three options, taming of the shrew, twelfth night, or Hamlet.
So I'm going to start my extension assignment, figured I should layout the website and organise evrything before I decide what text to do, because I'm still not sure what I'll be doing. Well its early, and I still have time, and I've got a couple of ideas that I'm thinking about. SO I guess I should start setting up the website while I decide what to do.
